What a week!!!

This week has absolutely flown by... not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing :)

Monday, we met up with Daddy for a lovely picnic.  It was still a little on the chilly side, but absolutely beautiful!  We had a great time trying to take a family picture... here's our best shot:

Tuesday was Mom's group, and we finished up Gift from the Sea.  I'm a couple chapters behind, but I plan to write about it when I'm done.  Definitely a must read (and an easy one too).

Wednesday I had to take the older one to the dentist.  I was SO proud of him!!!  Last time, he wouldn't open his mouth, but this time he got x-rays, fluoride, and let them brush his teeth.... All without so much as a peep.  I couldn't believe it!

I also had to take a trip back to the lactation office :(  Good news is we think we've figured out what's going on... too much milk.  The remedy?  Eat a ton of Altoids.

I guess peppermint will lower my supply.  So I have 8 more hours to eat at least 16 more of these guys.  I'm sure going to have some minty fresh breath!

Yesterday, I played catch up from being out of the house all week, but I did get the chance to make a couple loafs of bread.  I tried two new recipes.  Amish bread for the Hubby and Anthony, and a gluten free sweet dark bread for me.  I can't tell you much about the first other than it was incredibly easy to make, but the gluten free loaf... oh my goodness I am in Heaven!  This was the best gluten free bread I have every had.  Ever!  I think I had at least 4 slices of it right out of the beadmaker.  I will definitely be making this weekly... maybe even twice a week :)

Today marked day 3 of my hubby and I waking up at 5am for coffee and the Word together.  We are doing the B90X reading plan, pretty intense, but we're loving it.  I thought it would kill me getting up so early, but I actually look forward to it.  I'm loving the stillness and quietness of the morning, and discussing what I am learning with my husband.  I have also found that I am way more patient with Anthony having had time to fully wake up and be ready for the day before he gets out of bed.  Not something I expected with getting less sleep.

The rest of the day I will be catching up on laundry (while hopefully sneaking in a movie during naptime), doing school with Anthony, and sewing a few diapers for friend.  Sounds simple enough, but everything is a huge undertaking right now with two.

Hope everyone else had a good week!

PS- Welcome Company Girls... This is my first week joining in for some coffee :)

What a lovely surprise!

I started blogging mainly as a way for me to look back and remember all the little things that make up my life.  To remind myself of where I've been, how far I've come, and to dream about where I'm going.  So imagine my surprise when I found this lovely surprise waiting for me:
I wasn't even aware that anyone really read my blog, let alone enjoyed it enough to send an award my way.  Thank you Danielle for totally making my day!!!

As with any award, it comes with rules.
They are as follows:

1.Thank the link to the person that gave you the award
2.Pass this award on to 15 bloggers you've recently discovered & whom you think are fantastic
3.Contact said Blogs to let them know they've won
4.State 7 Things about yourself

I'll start with 7 things about myself:

1. I married my high school sweetheart
2. I hate being pregnant, but love the reward at the end so much I want to do it at least once more
3. I have Celiac Disease which means no gluten for me
4. I'm learning Spanish
5. I'm usually on the shy side unless I'm on stage acting or dancing, which hasn't happened in about 8 years
6. I really miss being on stage :)
7. We hope to move abroad in about 3 years

I really wish I had 15 blogs to award... I'm afraid I don't have near enough time right now with two little ones to keep up with that many.  I barely have enough time to post on my own!

Here are 6 that I do try and read when I'm able, and maybe even comment on if I'm lucky :)  I also included why I enjoy it:

1. I never know what to expect over at Peanut's Page.  Some days a funny story, others a great deal or recipe, but lately, a lot of wonderful photographs!  And her little one is oh so adorable!

2. If you want a good laugh you should head on over to Mommy Wonderland.  I also love reading about how much she lovers her hubby, boys, friends, and family.  It inspires me to be more loving :)

3. Ben and Katie are on an incredible journey right now that brings tears to my eyes, and reminds me of how loving and faithful our God is.  The trust Katie has in the Lord and the love she has for her husband amazes and challenges me every time I read what they're going through.  I can't wait until I read about Ben's complete healing!!!

4. Busy Beez and Chickadeez spotlights her adorable children's and beautiful wedding lines that are sold on Etsy and in several stores in my local area.  She is so talented and I love it all!

5. I love reading anything and everything that is posted on Amerie Rose. She writes so elegantly and passionately that I can't help but be sucked into her beautiful world.  Maybe it's all the talk of France!  She also makes some awesome baby shoes, among other things, that are sold on Etsy.

6. If you want to check out some amazing pictures, check out Amy's work at Amy Kolcz Photography.  It's absolutely beautiful!

On another note, Noah slept a full 8 hours last night.  Now that was a really lovely surprise!!!

My 1st Refashion and a Smile

I have been wanting to try my hand at refashioning for quite some time.  I've read lots of blogs and tutorials on it, and dreamed up some of my own items I could attempt to change, but have been a little too timid to try.  I finally realized if I'm never going to wear the item again anyways, it wouldn't hurt to try right?!?

This was the dress I wore for our rehearsal dinner when we got married.  I would have taken a pic with it on, but my post-baby body would never be able to get close to fitting into it :)  Besides the memories from the night I wore it, I love the fabric and just haven't been able to part with it.  You want to see what I came up with???

This lovely shirt!  It's a little hard to tell what it looks like, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.  The only thing I think I'll change is to get a solid color ribbon to run through the top.  Perhaps a chocolate brown one?!?  Anyways, maybe one day I'll post a picture wearing it so you can get the full effect.

On another note, my little Noah has started smiling.  This picture doesn't fully capture it, but I promise it's not just gas :)  He laid next to me smiling and cooing today for a good 10 minutes.  I really got to enjoy it too because Anthony was napping at the time.  I love my little guy!!!

Pockets

Today I filled up a "pocket" in my new sewing room.  (Want to know what I'm talking about... head on over to one of my favorite blogs, Home Sanctuary, to check out today's small thing).  I've been wanting for some time now to frame some of my favorite verses and quotes, and today I finally sat down to do it!  Such a simple thing, but it made me feel so accomplished :)  These didn't turn out as perfect as I would have liked, but I knew my time was very limited before one or both kiddos woke up from their nap.  They'll do just fine for now.  Sorry the pictures aren't the best.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

We have never been big on celebrating Valentine's Day, but we did try and do a couple special things today.  Took a few pictures to try and capture some "moments."  Enjoy!

Started the morning with my favorite gluten free cinnamon rolls... shaped as hearts with pink frosting :)

Smiled at my little Stegosaurus wondering around the house

Got all dressed up for church (Just realized there are still Christmas trees on the fridge... oops)

Watched my boys play together
Finally used our pasta machine to make some AMAZING homemade gluten free pasta... just have to add that my hubby rolled it all through.  Thanks Babe!!!

We turned it into Shrimp Scampi

Tony actually wrote this for me on Friday, but I still have it up :)

And I gave him this Valentine... sweet and simple!

And now, we are relaxing with some vino and watching the Olympics.  Probably should be sleeping since both kiddos are, but hey, it's Valentine's Day right?!?

Hope everyone had a wonderful love filled day!

Just wanted to give everyone a sneak peak of what's to come... stay tuned for more details :)

Woohoo!!!

Just wanted to shot for joy... our taxes have been submitted!!!  So glad I can breathe a big sigh of relief.  Now if only we didn't have to use the money for hospital bills :)

The first month...

Yesterday, my little Noah turned one month... Did I miss something!?!  I seriously feel like I just got home from the hospital.  I meant to get a picture of him to mark the occasion, but it didn't happen.  Maybe I'll get one today.  Here's a couple recent ones:

The first couple weeks went like a dream... I'm think I must have been on an adrenaline high or something.  Or maybe I was just SO glad to not be pregnant anymore.  We made it to church, on time, when Noah was only 10 days old.  I ventured out to Mom's group, the library, and the grocery store all by myself with both kiddos.  My house was clean, dinner was made, and the laundry washed, folded, and put away.  I even started Anthony on his first week of school and removed his naptime diaper (one more diaper left!).  And then last week happened...

Monday I woke up with Mastitis and was knocked flat on my face.  If you've ever experience this, you know how tough it is to function... fever, chills, body aches, nausea, and pain... oh the pain!  All while taking care of a newborn (and two year old).  I was lucky enough to experience this 7 times while breastfeeding Anthony, so thankfully I was able to catch it pretty early on before it got really bad.  However, after 2 days of antibiotic, I still wasn't feeling better.  So into the doctor's office, the lab, and lactation I went.  Four hours later, I was finally able to head home.  Thank goodness my hubby was available to come with us!  I am finally feeling better, and praying I don't have to go through this again.

Little Noah has developed some pretty bad reflux and was started on medication this week... however it takes a couple weeks to start working, and right now, it seems to be getting worse every night.  I feel so bad for him knowing he's in pain, and there's nothing I can do.  Thankfully, his reflux doesn't include too much vomitting; it's more on the "silent" side...coughing, choking, grunting.  After each feeding he has to stay upright for at least a half hour, making for some long nights.  My new bedtime is now officially 7:30pm.  As long as I get to sleep around then, I can wake up the next day feeling fairly rested and able to function without feeling too overwhelmed.  I think Anthony appreciates me getting some rest too, so that I have enough patience to handle a very energetic and curious two year old.

Anthony is still completely in love with his brother

They ended up with matching jammies, from 2 different people... of course I had to take a picture!

And Anthony has been practicing taking care of Noah with his potty training doll... very cute, although Dad's not a huge fan of his son playing with a doll :)
I'm very glad today is a new day, and a new week at that.  I have been reading in Matthew, and have been encouraged by some great promises, and challenged by His words.  My favorite promise right now is of course Matthew 11:28 "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (doesn't rest sound wonderful!  It's also what Noah's name means), and I have been the most challenged by Matthew 5:15 "Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house."  It goes on to say "In the same way let your light shine before men...," but I was challenged by the idea of being a light in my own house.  Yes, I am tired, and yes, I haven't been feeling well, but I'm sure Jesus often felt the same too.  I want to be a light in my own house, so that when I am doing so outside of my house, it is because that's who I really am, not who I am trying to appear to be.  Does that make sense?  Anyways, I am really enjoying my devotions right now, and they are definitely bringing life to me during a time I am feeling rather drained.

Well, since the little one is asleep with Daddy right now, I am off to play with my Anthony!

"Celebrate the Boy"

I am absolutely ecstatic about what is going on over at Made and Made by Rae.  For a whole month they have decided to "celebrate the boy" and will both be posting tutorials, crafts, and ideas just for the special little men in our lives.  I can't wait to see what they've got in store for us!  Head on over and check them out, and pick up one of there cute buttons while you're at it.

Care to join me?!?

This month I have decided to take a break from Facebook to spend more focused time praying for friends, family, and finances.  Now that I can access Facebook from my phone, I have found myself "checking in," so to say, whenever I sit down to feed Noah.  I haven't really thought anything of it because it's not like I could be doing anything else.  The past week or so, I have felt guilty every time I sign on though.  After spending some time in prayer about it, I realized I could use that time in a much better way.  Prayer!!!  I actually really enjoy praying, but I usually find myself so busy or tired, that I forget to stop and spend time with the Lord.  I have been given the opportunity though, thanks to my new little man, to stop multiple times throughout the day (and night) to just sit and be still.  So I'm going to try and make the most of this gift I've been given.

I have decided to choose a different thing to pray about each day to help me stay focused.  Here's what my week will look like:

Monday: My husband
Tuesday: Friends we know on the mission field in India, England, Dominican Republic, and Mexico
Wednesday: My sons... I love that this is plural now :)
Thursday: My friend's marriages
Friday: My siblings... between Tony and I we have 14!!!
Saturday: Direction and purpose for our family
Sunday: Our Finances

So how about you?  Is anyone else up to the challenge?  Maybe Facebook isn't the thing to fast for you, but I'm sure you know exactly what your thing is.

Please keep me in your prayers this month that I would be successful following through with this decision, and for breakthrough in the specific things I will be praying for!
